Taken in New Zealand, this month’s winner was submitted by Robert Greenberg.
Comparable in size to Colorado, this is a country with a diverse terrain that invites stunning photo-ops for those who are up for the challenge. Robert took up the gauntlet to share this beautiful picture with us.
Here’s what Robert had to say about this very “cool” picture:
“After a cold rainy hike up the riverbed, including three icy barefoot crossings of the Waiho River, my beautiful wife, Ying, claims victory at the foot of New Zealand’s Franz Josef Glacier. This spectacular glacier is unique in that it descends from the Southern Alps to an elevation of 200 meters above the Tasman Sea, yet is surrounded by lush. green temperate rain forest.
We flew Star Alliance partner Air New Zealand to Christchurch in the midst of New Zealand’s busy summer tourist season only to find endless miles of roads, pastures, mountains and lakes all to ourselves. Some say it will remind you of life when you were young growing up in America, but frankly, I don’t remember it ever being this good.”
A short bio on Robert:
He is a USDA Computer Specialist assigned to US Army’s Child and Youth Services.
Based in Honolulu, Robert has vacationed in more then 30 countries via United Airlines and the Star Alliance.
New Jersey born, he loves to visit Asia and Oceania while his Chinese-born wife, a Hawaiian garment distributor, prefers European vacations. They compromise!
